Atiku at the verge of winning Benue

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has taken an early win ahead of Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, based on results declared so far. SpyReporters gathered that PDP has won in 10 out of 14 local governments declared so far. APC won the remaining four. The total results collated so far gives PDP a total score of 182,968 against 134,208 for the APC. Some of the local governments won by the PDP include Ado, Apa, Agatu, Obi, Okpokwu, Buruku, Gwer East, Gwer West, Guma and Logo. The four local governments won by the APC are Tarka, Ushongo, Ohimini and Koshisha. Benue has 23 local governments, the result from nine states are expected shortly. Collation is ongoing at the INEC collation office in Makurdi.

Double Wahala As SARS Kidnap Suspected Robbers

The Anambra state command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has disclosed that its Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested some suspected armed robbers and kidnappers. According to the police, the suspect, Celestine Ogaru, a male, and his alleged accomplice, Chukwuebuka Onwuta, were arrested at Nkpor in Idemili North local government area of Anambra state. A statement by the command said the suspects allegedly attacked and robbed one Oko Chinedu of Enugwu -uku recently at about 8:15 pm. The statement said exhibits found in their possession includes a handset forcefully taken from the victim. The case is currently under investigation in preparation for the suspects to be charged to court. The police also said its SARS officers stormed Asaba, the capital of Delta state, and arrested a 42-year-old man, Chukwuezugo Paul, who, with three others, robbed their victim, Onwuzuike Chinyere, of her Toyota Venza car with REG number FST 950 EZ and phones. TENSION: Buhari, Service Chiefs, IGP, Govs In Emergency Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday met with the service chiefs and the acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in the State House. The emergency meeting also had in attendance, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno, the Minister of Defence, Dan Mansur-Alli, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dangazzau, the Director General of Department of State Service, (DSS), Yusuf Buchi, and some other security heads. Kogi Deputy Gov Security Details Restored

The embattled deputy Governor of Kogi state, today disclosed that his security details has been "restored". A statement signed by Hon Simon Achuba's Chief Press Secretary revealed that the restoration was inspired by the public outcry that followed suit.  He commended the Inspector General of Police and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police for their responses.  The Deputy Governor enjoined the Police State Command to monitor the subordinate officers they  send to sensitive duty posts to guide them against being used for unlawful assignments that could tarnish the image of the police.  He also commended the Press for their courage and professionalism which principally assisted in getting the information out to the public.  The Deputy Governor promised to sustain good working relationship with the Press, stating that the media performs critical roles in the development of the society. 

Just In: APC chairman calls for reshuffling of INEC

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has reportedly called for the reshuffling of some of the senior officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Oshiomhole made this call on Monday, February 18 at a caucus meeting of the APC in Abuja. In attendance at the meeting were President Muhammadu Buhari, vice president Yemi Osinbajo, 11 APC governors, and other party leaders. Oshiomhole accused some INEC State Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) of working with the PDP and particularly singled out the REC in Akwa Ibom, Mike Igini. Kogi Workers Lament Non Payment of Salaries As Elections Draws Near

Many civil servants on the payroll of the Kogi state are presently lamenting the non payment of salaries by the incumbent leadership. Spy Reporters spoke to a cross section of Civil Servants residing in Lokoja who all pleaded anonymity. However, they berated the Governor Yahaya Bello's administration for the untold hardship trending in Kogi state.  The workers also complained of lack of funds travel to their various towns and wards to participate in the forthcoming general elections.  Confiding in our reporter, many of the workers confessed they cannot afford transportion fare to enable them travel home to exercise their civic rights. They pleaded with Yahaya Bello to do the needful especially at a very "sensitive period like this". Recall that Governor Yahaya Bello's government embarked on a routine staff verification exercise purging many civil servants out of the system. Many died out of frustration and so many civil servants could not afford their hospital bills. 

Chief of Air Staff Visits Azerbaijan, Seeks Partnership In Development of Military Complex
