Prince Audu: The Cat With Nine Lives

By Ajogwu Jerry Ochada

Life is indeed a big circle and the day we cease to exist as humans does not end our existence perhaps because of our legacies; the lives we touched, those we groomed and the impact we made will forever speak a loud volume about our life and times on earth. Prince Yahaya Audu Oyidi, the younger brother to the fallen iroko, the Prince of the Niger has proven beyond reasonable doubt that blood is indeed thicker than water owing to the similarities of political ideologies he tapped from the greatest bridge builder who transited to eternal glory at the verge of winning the 2015 gubernatorial election in Kogi state. For the scion, the demise of his elder brother should not end the applaudable stories and good political history of Kogi state. To this end, even though he is not occupying any political seat in the state, he never hesitated wearing the big shoes of the Aduoja; a man who came, saw and conquered.

At the peak of the 2019 Presidential campaign in support of President Muhammadu Buhari, the younger Audu not perturbed by circumstances surrounding the injustice meted to him during the APC primary elections led the campaign train of President Muhammadu Buhari and retired to his country home, Ogbonicha penultimate Thursday to canvas support for the reelection of Mr President. Out of the abundance of his genuine approach and sincerity at all times, Prince Audu hosted a cross section of Kogites from the nine local government areas comprising Kogi east under the auspices of the APC Aspirants Forum with the bid to work out modalities for the way forward and to garner support in anticipation of victory for President Muhammadu Buhari come Saturday.

The composure and ideologies of Prince Yahaya Audu is envisioned to reposition Kogi state. It is worthy of note, the indefatigable trailblazer is not a political neophyte but an experienced asset to national unity, growth and development with successful ventures spanning different countries. To this end, it is also instructive to admit that he is not a first timer on a political sojourn but a living legend who has contributed his best to humanity; not just Kogi state but across many borders. As a business mogul, he is presently attracting the interest of many investors to Kogi state to make sure the confluence state becomes one of the world greatest exporter of cashew nuts in the year 2022.

For Prince Yahaya Audu, holding a political office is not the only opportunity to render true service to natives of your extraction and citizens of your country rather leaders should see the office they occupy as an opportunity to act by leaving indelible marks of positivity on the sands of time. In his usual idealism, he does not accord premium to reasons why a particular project should fail because he is a passionate contributor to human capital development perhaps because he is a philantrophist with a difference.

Saluting the courage of this rare gem during a recent political function he attended in Kogi state, stakeholders of the ruling party where he belong took turns to shower encomium on the cat with nine lives for his unrelentess efforts towards the success of his great  party and Kogi state at large despite the fact that he was robbed of the party's ticket after defeating his closest contender, Alhaji Isah Jibrin (Echocho) in that election. In a resolute reaction and the rarest show of political maturity, Prince Audu unlike the widely known attributes of desperate politicians did not dump his political party after experiencing the gross show of political robbery in broad daylight, rather he is still working tirelessly to ensure his party triumph at both levels during the forthcoming polls.

This is a rare resolve that is lacking in the circle of politicians in the present day Kogi state; a state where an individual who once contested election and was robbed is a unifying factor while the Sheriffs who robbed him cannot campaign for the reelection bid of Mr President yet the youthful but useful figure head is the first to take selfies at any given opportunity he comes across Baba Buhari. It is time to separate sycophants from the real team players who can lead a battalion of sensible electorate to do the needful in sharp contrast to the renowned dude full of youthful exuberance and lacking any prudent foresight. It is also not yet time to highlight or embrace any style of blame game but honour must be accorded to whom it is due.

Prince Yahaya Audu has proven beyond doubts that holding any political office is not the only way you can improve the welfare of the masses. Unlike the character of the average Nigerian politician, the younger Audu is always seen mingling with people at the grassroots with the aim of improving their plights through the provisions of adequate infrastructure and the timely  award of scholarships to indigent students who are ready to learn but are financially constrained. Beyond politics, the cat with nine lives has struggled through the storm by sacrificing his best to create opportunities for Kogites to grow together by harmonizing all and sundry.  At the moment, he is one personality who can steer any project to a finishing stage ably achieved through mutual cooperation. This silent achiever is one of the greatest assets of national unity and development and deserve some accolades because indeed, action speaks louder than voice.

Kogi Guber: Dissecting Igala Unity; A Stitch In Time

By Ajogwu Jerry Ochada A popular African proverb comes to mind immediately I perused the list of ministerial nominees submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari: "a river that forgets its source is destined to dry". It beats my wild imagination how the once upon a time most favoured breeds across the Niger, fell within a twinkle of an eye to this present stage in the spheres of politics. No doubts, everything is possible on the political terrain but ane-Igala from the time of our ancestors never witnessed defeat or failure. We were classified as the most favoured political breeds in the Middle-belt region but the reverse is now the case. Recall that during the Second Republic, the present day Kogi State was under Benue State, yet we successfully produced the Deputy Governor in the person of Alhaji Sule Iyaji without much rancor with other ethnic groups in Benue. It was an easy scale of dominance perhaps because our leaders; traditional and political actors worked together

Secret Graveyard: Echoes of Defeated Terrorists

By Ajogwu Jerry Ochada As a student of diplomacy, one of the first lessons I learnt under the tutelage of my teachers is to decipher the aims of terrorism; the activites of terrorists. The major targets of these inimical elements all over the world is to instill fear in the minds of the populace. Another notable propaganda often utilized by terrorists is to hit a target where it could record high number of casualties (to make news headlines) by so doing the media would accord the orchestrated attack a wildfire styled reportage. It is pitiably unfortunate that on this part of the globe, terrorism is thriving in contemporary assessments as a result of the "5th columnists" who are ever ready to publish fallacious documents in solidarity with terrorist bound but are always at large whenever our armed forces record greater feat against the insurgents. As a result of these deficit, there is a breeding section of divergent public opinion promoted by misguided nationals and in
