Senate Lauds NAF on Achievements As CAS Defends 2019 Budget Proposal

By SPY Reporters   The Chairman Senate Committee on Air Force, Senator Duro Samuel Faseyi, has applauded the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its prudent management of resources which has resulted in many laudable achievements under the leadership of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar.  This was disclosed during the defence of the 2019 NAF budget proposal before the Senate Committee on Air Force.    In his opening remarks, Senator Faseyi highlighted that the desire of the 8th National Assembly (NASS) for thoroughness and transparency informed its decision to suspend plenary and other legislative engagements to give attention to the 2019 Budget to ensure due diligence before its passage. He remarked that air forces all over the world were very expensive to maintain but he was aware that the NAF and indeed the entire Armed Forces have been persistently underfunded. November Guber: Kogi Begins Pilot School Feeding For 46,119 Pupils

By SPY Reporters As a campaign strategy in anticipation of the November 2019 gubernatorial election in Kogi state, the pilot phase of the federal government’s Home Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP) has commenced for about 46,119 pupils in public primary schools across Kogi State. Programme Manager of HGSFP in Kogi State, Hajiya Khadijat Karibo, who disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent, said the pilot implementation began on February 8, 2019 across public primary schools in 18 out of the 21 LGAs of the state. She explained that the pilot school feeding was supposed to cover all the 21 LGAs but the implementation was yet to commence in Adavi, Dekina and Ankpa LGAs due to mismatch in the BVNs provided by some of caterers recruited to feed the school children in the affected areas. He said the reforms initiated by the council as well as transparency and accountability in its official dealings led to the operating surplus that was returned to the Federal government. NAF opens new worship centres in Abuja

The air force said the new worship centres would enable its personnel and their families worship in a suitable environment, close to their residences. Comedian, Ayo Makun a.k.a AY, has launched an appeal fund for a little girl sent away from school in Delta State over her parents’ inability to pay her fees. Nigeria Air Force Chief Donates Modern Wheelchair To Paralyzed Flight Lieutenant

By SPY Reporters  The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has fulfilled a promise made in 2014 for the provision of a wheelchair to retired Flight Lieutenant Dauda Philip.  The specialised wheelchair, which was bought at a cost of 16,577.10 Pounds Sterling, was formally handed over to the retired officer, yesterday, 13 March 2019.  The retired officer was involved in a road traffic accident on 13 September 2008, in which he sustained a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed.  Despite being treated within the country and evacuated for advanced care in Egypt and India by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), he eventually lost total use of his upper and lower limbs.  He was subsequently retired from the NAF on 4 December 2014 with a recommendation that a motorized wheelchair should be provided to aid his movement in retirement.  However, this was not done, which prompted the retired officer to appeal to the present CAS for the provision of a wheelchair.  The CAS, who

BREAKING: Cattle Rustlers Kill 17 In Kaduna

At least 17 people, including civilian militia members, were killed in clashes with cattle thieves in northwest Nigeria, police said on Friday.  The Armed bandits attacked Jan Ruwa village in the Birnin Gwari district of Kaduna state on Tuesday and stole livestock, leading to clashes with a militia force.  Kaduna state police spokesman Yakubu Sabo said the bandits took away “many cows” but the vigilantes fought them to try to reclaim the stolen herd.  “In the process, the bodies of 15 vigilantes and two others were recovered,” he added in a statement.  The Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna state has in recent years become notorious for cattle rustling and kidnapping for ransom, forcing many local people to flee for their own safety. Civil Society Organizations on Tuesday warned the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello to refrain from the persecution of Usman Okai Austin, a political activist and spokesperson of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in Kogi State.
