Armed Banditry: DAPR Lauds 1 Division Nigerian Army

The Directorate of Army Public Relations has applauded 1 Division Nigerian Army for combating armed banditry and other form of criminality in its area of responsibility.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sagir Musa gave the commendation on Monday, in Kaduna State while paying a courtesy call on the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 1 Division Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Faruk Yahaya.

The image maker of the Army encouraged officers and men of the division to sustain the tempo by ensuring that all criminal elements in their area of responsibility are successfully defeated.

"I am here to once again formally inform you that officers of the Directorate of Army Public Relations are at the headquarters of 1 Division for combined Second and Third Quarter Directorate of Army Public Relations Study Period.

"As a tradition of the Nigeria Army, it is necessary to show respect to the GOC and all personnel of 1 Division by paying a courtesy visit to the GOC".

Sagir used the opportunity to commend personnel of the Division for their selfless service to the nation especially in checkmating banditry activities in its area of responsibility.

He noted that the GOC and Principal Officers of the division has been cooperating with the Directorate of Army Public Relations by supporting fair reportage of all activities that concerns the Service.

According to the spokesman, the purpose of the visit is in line with discipline, regimentation and respect to constituted authority enshrined in the rules and regulations guiding the Nigerian army.

Responding to the gesture, the GOC of the Division Maj. Gen. Faruk Yahaya tasked commanders in the division " to do more" to consolidate the commendation.

In his words "We must not rest on our oars and we should not get carried away after the commendation. We are expected to do more".

High point of the visit was the exchange of souvenirs by the host and guest.

The event had in attendance Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors of the Directorate of Army Public Relations from various units and division.

Nigerian Army Team Bags Gold, Bronze In Taekwando Competition

The 8th Edition of the Inspector General of Police (IGP's) Open Taekwondo Championship, has ended, with the Nigerian Army Taekwando team, winning 7 medals. The competition was held at the Civic Centre, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from 24 to 28 July, 2019. The championship featured participants from the 36 States of the Federation, as well as various Taekwondo Clubs across the country. Some international athletes from West African countries also participated in the event. About 250 competitors participated in the championship. Nigerian Army's Taekwondo team, made up of 12 athletes comprising 8 male and 4 female, featured in the exciting tourney. At the end of the 4-day sporting extravaganza, the Army's Taekwondo team carted away 4 Gold and 3 Bronze Medals.
